A major fire incident erupted on Saturday at the headquarters of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) in Abuja, with flames engulfing the upper section of the building and prompting an emergency response from firefighters.

According to Ireporter Online, the fire reportedly started on the fourth floor of the bank’s headquarters, situated opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), before rapidly spreading to the upper floors of the structure.

Emergency responders were immediately deployed to the scene in an effort to contain the blaze, while thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the building.

Eyewitnesses said firefighters battled relentlessly to prevent the fire from consuming more sections of the property. A social media user, Praises Chukwu, who shared images from the scene, stated that despite the response efforts, the flames continued to spread across the top floors.
