Wike Fires At Amaechi: He Adds No Value To Atiku’s 2027 Bid

According to Ireporter Online, Wike made the remarks during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where he argued that Amaechi lacks the political influence required to deliver Rivers State and the wider South-South region for the ADC in the next presidential election.

The FCT minister maintained that Amaechi’s political record does not demonstrate the electoral strength needed to significantly boost Atiku’s chances in the region.

He pointed to Amaechi’s time as governor of Rivers State, claiming he was unable to ensure the emergence of his preferred successor. Wike also referenced the former minister’s role in previous national elections, arguing that despite serving in key campaign positions and as a federal minister, the expected electoral outcomes were not achieved in Rivers State.

Wike further recalled Amaechi’s public comments regarding the 2015 presidential election, in which the former minister acknowledged his role in the political events that led to the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the FCT minister, those remarks could make it difficult for Amaechi to convince voters in the South-South region to support Atiku’s candidacy in 2027.

He insisted that Amaechi’s political history and previous electoral performances weaken any suggestion that his emergence as a vice-presidential candidate would provide a significant advantage for the ADC ticket in the forthcoming general election.
