I’m Irritated’ – Aisha Yesufu Slams Peter Obi’s TV Interview

A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has criticised the recent television interview granted by the party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing the session as repetitive and lacking fresh content.

According to Ireporter Online, Peter Obi appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, where he discussed national issues and his preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

Reacting to clips from the interview circulating on social media, Yesufu said she was disappointed because the discussion failed to present new questions or generate fresh insights from the former Anambra State governor.

She argued that Obi merely repeated positions he had expressed on several previous occasions, leaving viewers with nothing new to learn from the interview.

The NDC stalwart questioned why interviewers continue to revisit familiar topics instead of challenging political figures with new issues that could provide deeper public understanding.

Yesufu maintained that while there is constant pressure on Peter Obi to appear before the media and answer questions, the same level of scrutiny is not directed at President Bola Tinubu, whom she accused of avoiding interviews and public accountability.

She also alleged that the President has largely remained away from media engagements despite occupying the nation’s highest office, insisting that journalists should focus on asking questions capable of producing new information rather than repeating issues that have already been extensively discussed.

According to her, meaningful interviews should challenge political leaders with fresh perspectives instead of revisiting answers the public has heard repeatedly, adding that the latest conversation failed to deliver any significant new revelations.
