Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for the signing of highly rated winger Yan Diomande in a transfer worth up to €140 million, bringing weeks of negotiations between both clubs to a successful conclusion.

According to Ireporter Online, the Spanish giants will pay an initial €125 million for the 19-year-old, with an additional €15 million included in performance-related bonuses. The agreement has already received approval from RB Leipzig’s board, paving the way for the player to undergo a medical in Madrid before completing the transfer.

Diomande, who had joined Leipzig’s pre-season training camp in Austria earlier this week while discussions continued, is now expected to leave the camp after being granted permission to finalise his move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Ivory Coast international recently returned from representing his country at the FIFA World Cup. He had initially missed Leipzig’s departure for Austria, with the German club maintaining that his absence was due to illness and unrelated to the ongoing transfer negotiations.

The deal is also expected to provide a financial boost for Spanish side Leganés, who sold Diomande to Leipzig last year and are entitled to a percentage of any future transfer fee under the terms of the agreement.

Reports indicate that Real Madrid became increasingly confident of completing the signing after Paris Saint-Germain withdrew from negotiations, while Liverpool were also among the clubs monitoring the talented teenager during the transfer window.

Although Diomande remains under contract with Leipzig until 2030, the Bundesliga club reportedly accepted the offer after previously seeking a fee closer to €130 million while attempting to extend his stay with improved contract terms.

The winger enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Germany, scoring 13 goals and registering 10 assists in 36 appearances. He also featured in all four of Ivory Coast’s matches at the FIFA World Cup before the African nation exited the tournament in the quarter-finals against Norway.

Diomande is set to become Real Madrid’s latest addition in a busy transfer window that has already seen the arrivals of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi, while the club continues its pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
