The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded the resolution of disputes arising from its governorship primaries and submitted the details of its governorship candidates in 27 of the 28 states scheduled to hold governorship elections in 2027.

According to Ireporter Online, the party has also forwarded the names of the running mates for the 27 candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with only one North-East state yet to finalise its deputy governorship candidate.

The outstanding issue is expected to be resolved at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, where party leaders will decide on a replacement following the completion of the current deputy governor’s constitutional tenure.

The APC reportedly completed the submission after resolving internal disagreements that followed governorship primaries in states including Kwara, Oyo, Adamawa and Bauchi.

In Kwara State, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi Salihu, emerged as the party’s governorship candidate despite opposition from several aspirants. Party leaders have since reconciled the aggrieved members, allowing the submission of his candidacy.

In Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli was confirmed as the APC flag bearer, with Adesoji Adedeji named as his running mate after disputes surrounding the primary election were settled through the party’s internal mechanisms.

Former Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Executive Secretary, Ahmed Tijani Galadima, will represent the APC in Adamawa State, while former Governor Mohammed Abubakar secured the party’s ticket in Bauchi after divisions within the state chapter were addressed.

The report also noted that political tensions in Adamawa have eased, with party stakeholders closing ranks behind Galadima despite earlier disagreements over his emergence.
