Tinubu Meets ICPC Chairman, Aliyu, At Aso Rock
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday received the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Aliyu, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Ireporter Online, Aliyu arrived at the Aso Rock Villa at about 5:40 p.m. for the meeting, although the details of the discussion had not been made public as of the time of filing this report.
The meeting came a day after President Tinubu directed a comprehensive forensic investigation into activities surrounding the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The President issued the directive during Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting following revelations by the ICPC that other fake organisations could be operating within government institutions.
Aliyu’s latest visit also came two weeks after he presented the commission’s interim report on the PFIPC investigation to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on August 6.
The ICPC probe was initially ordered by the President on July 7 after Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi, who claimed to be associated with the alleged agency, accused the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of demanding and receiving ₦400 million to facilitate his appointment.
However, the commission’s interim findings established that Adeyemi had never been appointed by the Federal Government and that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council had no legal basis for its existence.
Investigators also determined that an appointment letter allegedly presented by Adeyemi was forged and did not originate from the Presidency.
The probe further uncovered two other organisations allegedly linked to Adeyemi: the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership.
The commission also alleged that Adeyemi unlawfully occupied an office previously used by the now-defunct Presidential Economic Advisory Council after reportedly breaking the locks to the premises.
The outcome of Thursday’s meeting between Tinubu and the ICPC chairman had not been disclosed at the time of filing this report.
