WAEC Certificate Online: Step-by-Step Guide To Download Your 2026 Certificate

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has upgraded its digital platform, enabling candidates who participated in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates to access, download and print their certificates online.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, WAEC announced the development in a statement issued on Friday, August 21, confirming that the 2026 WASSCE certificates are now available through the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.

The examination body explained that candidates can access their certificates through the official WAEC website or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.

The platform provides two major services. The Certificate Access feature allows candidates to view, download and share their certificates, while the Certificate Confirmation service enables institutions and organisations to verify the authenticity of certificates presented to them.

The development is expected to simplify the process of obtaining certificates for candidates who need them for university admission, employment, scholarship applications and other official purposes.

The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, across more than 24,200 secondary schools.

A total of 1,950,726 candidates participated in the examination, with 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, recording credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

To access the 2026 WAEC certificate online, candidates should visit the official WAEC Digital Certificate Platform and select the Certificate Access option. They will then be required to provide the relevant examination and identification details before completing the necessary verification process.

Where applicable, candidates may also be required to complete an OTP authentication before gaining access to the certificate.

After successful verification, the candidate can view and download the digital certificate and keep a copy for future use or share it with an institution or organisation that requires it.

Candidates can also use the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application available through the Google Play Store to access their certificates.

WAEC clarified that the digital certificate platform is separate from the result-checking portal used by candidates to verify their examination results.

The introduction of online certificate access is expected to reduce delays associated with obtaining physical certificates and provide candidates with easier access to their academic credentials.
