Peter Obi Begs Nigerians: “Pray For Us Politicians To Stop Stealing

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has blamed politicians for many of the challenges confronting Nigeria, arguing that the country itself is not the problem but those entrusted with political leadership.

According to Ireporter Online, Obi made the remarks while speaking to worshippers at Koinonia Global and Eternity Network International during a Sunday service.

Obi was invited to address the congregation by the church’s leader, Apostle Joshua Selman. Speaking during the service, which was streamed live on YouTube, the former Anambra State governor said Nigerians should pray for political leaders to change their ways and stop engaging in corruption.

Obi urged Nigerians not to focus solely on identifying politicians as either good or bad, insisting that the political class as a whole must accept responsibility for the country’s current challenges.

He appealed to Nigerians to pray for political leaders and ask God to influence them to abandon the diversion of public resources and embrace responsible leadership.

The NDC presidential candidate further argued that Nigeria has the resources and potential required for development, but poor leadership and the misuse of public funds have continued to hinder the country’s progress.

Reflecting on the development of other nations, Obi encouraged Nigerians to study the book Growing Apart, saying it provides insight into how countries that once had similar economic circumstances have taken different development paths.

He maintained that Nigeria could also experience significant progress if public officials acted responsibly, managed national resources properly and placed the interests of citizens above personal gain.

Obi stressed that the country could improve if leaders committed themselves to doing what is right and refrained from misappropriating public funds.
