The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged politicians to remain generous and remember the people whose support contributed to their political success.

Wike made the remarks during a political gathering in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he hosted Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The FCT Minister stressed that political success was largely dependent on the support of the people, urging leaders not to become tight-fisted after attaining political positions.

According to Wike, politics requires sacrifice, and those who have benefited from the support of the people should reciprocate by extending help to them.

“Politics is sacrifice. You cannot get to where I am today if your hands are tight. Open your hands for people. People made us to be what we are today, open your hands for them,” he said.

The remarks came shortly after Fubara paid a courtesy visit to Wike at his residence in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The governor was accompanied by Dr Sam Sam Jaja during the visit.

The delegation was received by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, and former governorship candidate Senator Magnus Abe.

The visit marked another public interaction between Fubara and his predecessor amid developments in the political landscape of Rivers State.

Wike, while speaking to political supporters, reiterated the importance of supporting the people who contribute to the success of politicians, maintaining that political office should come with a sense of responsibility and sacrifice.
