Major-General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence, Media Operations, revealed this during a press conference in Abuja.

Buba emphasized the intensification of combat operations and the determination to eradicate the “cancer of terrorism” in the nation.

He disclosed that the military and other security agencies have heightened their activities in suburbs of the FCT and neighboring states. Additionally, battlefield enablers have been deployed to enhance operational intelligence and the strike capability of troops against terrorists.

While addressing concerns about the recent surge in kidnappings, especially in the FCT and other areas, Buba acknowledged the challenges faced by many Nigerians due to the ongoing insurgency in various regions.

He assured citizens that the military is working diligently to address the situation both in the immediate and long term, prioritizing the safety of lives and property.

Buba warned against maliciously disparaging the military, stating that those caught engaging in such acts would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He underscored the commitment of the Armed Forces to eliminate terrorism and create a safe environment for citizens.

Acknowledging the self-inflicted nature of the insecurity crisis, Buba expressed the military’s duty to protect citizens and provide a secure environment for a prosperous future.

He reassured the public that the Armed Forces are constantly refining their operational strategies to bring an end to the prevailing security challenges in the country.
