This event follows a period of political tension and marks a notable reconstitution of the state’s executive council. The re-nominated commissioners, who had previously resigned in a show of allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a recent dispute between Wike and the governor, have now been reinstated.
The swearing-in ceremony proceeded smoothly, with the commissioners taking the oaths of allegiance and office simultaneously. Governor Fubara, in his address, congratulated the returning commissioners and stressed the vital roles they play in the governance of Rivers State.
While acknowledging the challenges they faced amid the political rift, Governor Fubara urged the commissioners to commit to doing what is right for the state. He expressed confidence in their ability to contribute positively to the development of Rivers State and encouraged them to focus on their responsibilities.
The reinstatement of these commissioners is seen as a positive step towards political reconciliation in the state, signaling a willingness to mend fences and work collaboratively for the benefit of Rivers State.
