Announced by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Jubril Gawat, the operation was led by taskforce chairman CSP Shola Jejeloye.

The gang, known for coercing truck drivers to part with money under false pretenses of working for the defunct Lagos State Parks and Garages Agency, employed brazen tactics that often led to physical harm and acts of bestiality against drivers who resisted.

Expressing dismay at the gang’s audacity despite the ban on the agency’s activities, Jejeloye emphasized the government’s commitment to safety on the highways.

Truck driver Victor Aiyegbosi, a recent victim, hailed the taskforce’s intervention, describing the gang’s actions as inhumane and destructive.

Of the apprehended suspects, 8 pleaded guilty and were sentenced, while the remaining 43 face court proceedings. Jejeloye issued a stern warning to others engaged in similar acts, emphasizing the government’s determination to uphold transportation safety.

The crackdown marks a significant step in restoring order and efficiency to Lagos’s transportation networks, aligning with the THEMES PLUS agenda of the current administration.
