According to the Public Relations Officer of the fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, the child was trapped in the blaze, which engulfed the upper floor of the building, leaving it completely razed.
Rescue efforts were initiated promptly upon receiving a distress call, with firefighters from the Central and Audu Bako Secretariat fire stations rushing to the scene. Despite being rescued unconscious, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital.
The tragedy underscores the urgent need for enhanced fire safety measures and vigilance in communities to prevent such devastating incidents.
In related news, a fire outbreak in Ibadan resulted in the loss of a 30-year-old welder’s life and left four others hospitalized due to injuries sustained from a gas explosion. The incident, which occurred in the Badmus area, also destroyed multiple trailers, adding to the grim toll of fire-related disasters in the region.
