The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has warned its leaders and stakeholders that their chances of securing federal appointments after the 2027 elections will depend largely on their ability to deliver their polling units, wards and constituencies to the party.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, Abia APC Chairman Chijioke Chukwu issued the warning on Sunday, August 23, 2026, during a reconciliation meeting held at the party secretariat in Umuahia following its recent primary elections.

Chukwu said the party would assess the performance of its leaders based on the results recorded in their respective areas during the 2027 elections.

He disclosed that the APC was working on a system that would link political appointments and rewards to measurable contributions and electoral performance.

The party chairman cautioned members who rely on political connections in Abuja while failing to win their immediate constituencies against expecting federal appointments.

He stressed that the results of polling units, wards and constituencies belonging to party leaders and stakeholders would be made public after the elections to enable the national leadership to assess their performance.

Chukwu said the party would no longer tolerate a situation where individuals seek ministerial or other federal positions despite failing to deliver electoral victories in their local areas.

He also urged APC members, particularly candidates and party leaders, to put the interests of the party above personal ambitions as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

According to him, the immediate objective is to strengthen the party across Abia State and secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Chukwu further appealed for unity among party members, warning against supporting rival political parties or allowing internal disagreements to weaken the APC’s chances at the polls.

As part of efforts to resolve lingering disagreements following the party’s primaries, the Abia APC chairman inaugurated a reconciliation committee headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu.

The committee is expected to engage aggrieved members, address disputes and promote unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, APC member Sam Anya expressed confidence in the party’s preparations in Ohafia, saying structures had already been established to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Anya maintained that the existing structures would help the party consolidate its presence and improve its chances of securing electoral victories across the state in 2027.
