The tragic incident unfolded on Monday evening, February 5, 2024, leaving the community reeling from the profound loss.

Public Relations Officer of the fire service, Saminu Abdullahi, revealed that they received a distress call around 6:20 p.m. from a concerned staff member, Habibi Adamu. Without delay, rescue teams from the Central and Audu Bako Secretariat fire stations rushed to the scene at approximately 6:24 p.m.

Abdullahi further explained the harrowing scene, describing a building measuring about 40 by 30 feet, where the upper floor was engulfed by the ferocious flames, while one parlour suffered partial damage. Tragically, the young child was unable to escape the inferno and was trapped inside the burning structure.

Despite valiant efforts by rescue personnel, the child was found unconscious and was swiftly transported to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital. Regrettably, the attending physician confirmed the devastating news of the child’s passing.

The grief-stricken family, identified as the father, Sani Usaini, was left to grapple with the profound loss as they received the devastating news at the hospital.

As the community mourns the loss of the innocent child, questions linger about the circumstances surrounding the fire and what measures can be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
