Represented by the Director of the Ministry’s Department of Extension Services, Bashir Abdulkadir, the Permanent Secretary underscores the significance of the event in the government’s concerted efforts to uplift smallholder farmers and foster sustainable agricultural practices.

He voices deep concern over the alarming poverty levels, highlighting that nearly 45 million men and 43.7 million women in Nigeria are living on less than $1.90 per day, contributing to 12.9% of the global extreme poverty population.

Expressing optimism, Fadeshemi reaffirms the government’s commitment to tackling poverty at its core, particularly through agricultural development. He applauds the NPRGS for diligently identifying and supporting 250 farmers for participation in transformative programs.

In his closing remarks, he underscores the vital role of smallholder farmers in Nigeria’s economic prosperity and emphasizes the government’s resolve to equip them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and resources for success in the agricultural sector.
