Men accuse me of being a snob, but I am not,” she reveals in an interview with Saturday Vanguard. After recently being appointed as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Gender Equality to the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Chief Emeka Rollas, Tracy Edwin shares insights into her experiences with men and her journey back to acting after a six-year hiatus.

AGN President, Chief Emeka Rollas, has entrusted you with the role of SSA on Gender Equality. How do you plan to approach this new responsibility?

Gender equality is a subject I am deeply familiar with, and I am delighted that AGN has recognized its importance. In our society, particularly in Nollywood, there’s often a disparity in opportunities between male and female professionals. Women are capable of excelling in various roles such as directing and cinematography, yet they are frequently overlooked. I aim to use my platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, to amplify the voices of women. Through my movie productions, I intend to provide women with opportunities to showcase their talents and receive equitable compensation compared to their male counterparts.

Do you believe women face marginalization in Nollywood?

I believe it varies depending on one’s status in the industry. There’s no uniform experience for everyone, much like in other sectors such as banking.
