Commissioners for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, and Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issued the ultimatum after inspecting various locations including Apongbon underbridge, Obalende, Ijora underbridge, and Surulere opposite National Stadium.

Addressing the press after the inspection, Tokunbo Wahab stressed that all shanties, traders, squatters, cattle rearers, and abandoned vehicles under Obalende bridge must evacuate the area by Thursday afternoon, with enforcement actions commencing early Friday morning.

Wahab commended the compliance level at Ijora, Apongbon, and Ebute Ero under the bridge where cleanup operations began two weeks ago. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment, with plans for beautification and landscaping by the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) once the squatters are removed.

LASPARK will undertake the transformation of Obalende underbridge, Apongbon underbridge, and Ebute Ero underbridge, with the cleanup initiative extending to other bridges across the state in the coming months.
