The group vehemently opposes any notion of allowing Fulani camps to be established under the guise of cattle ranches in the area.
In a statement released by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB expressed concern over Governor Peter Mbah’s proposal to create a cattle ranch in Nimbo, Uzowani community of Enugu State.
“We strongly advise Governor Peter Mbah to abandon his misguided efforts to bring violent jihadist Fulani to Nimbo Community. Furthermore, we caution South-East governors against entertaining any proposals for cattle ranches in their respective states. IPOB and ESN operatives will not tolerate the establishment of Fulani camps disguised as cattle ranches within Biafra territory,” the statement read.
IPOB highlighted previous concerns raised in November 2023 regarding Governor Mbah’s alleged plans to allocate community land to Fulani bandits in exchange for political favors.
Emphasizing their vigilance, IPOB stated that any genuine cattle ranch in Enugu State must be privately owned by an Igbo entrepreneur, stressing that only indigenous people are permitted to operate such ventures within Igbo land.
Governor Mbah was urged to avoid repeating past mistakes and to reconsider his stance, as IPOB remains resolute in safeguarding the South-East from the incursion of Fulani herdsmen.
The statement concluded with a firm directive, asserting that any monetary transactions between Fulani herdsmen and Governor Mbah or traditional leaders for land acquisition must be reversed promptly.
