Olubodun Sanni, a 21-year-old final-year student at AAUA, was taken into custody by the Ondo State Police Command in relation to the death of Miss Adekunle, a 300-level Economics student. Her lifeless body was discovered on February 2, 2024, inside her rented one-room apartment situated outside the university campus.

Commissioner Abayomi Peter Oladipo of the Ondo Police Command disclosed that the victim’s phone was found missing from the crime scene, prompting a deeper investigation. Utilizing modern technology, the authorities successfully tracked down the phone to its new owner, Sanni, who coincidentally resided in the same hostel as the deceased.

“The recovered phone played a crucial role in the interrogation of the suspect, who later confessed to his involvement in the incident,” stated Commissioner Abayomi.

According to police reports, Sanni allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming that he acted out of rage upon discovering plans by the victim and another individual to harm him.

As the investigation progresses, Sanni will be facing legal consequences for his actions.

In a separate incident, the Ogun State Police Command has also made significant progress in combating crime by capturing a suspected kidnapper, Christopher Yaro, believed to be involved in the abduction of two Catholic priests in Pankshin, Plateau State.

The priests were kidnapped on February 1, 2024, and were held captive until their release on February 8, reportedly without the payment of ransom. The swift action by law enforcement led to the capture of Yaro, one of the perpetrators involved in the abduction.

Despite the challenges posed by criminal elements, the police continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of citizens across the country.
