Bayero University Celebrates 11,284 Graduates Across 18 Faculties In Grand Convocation Ceremony

Amidst pomp and pride, Bayero University, Kano, marks a milestone as it confers degrees upon 11,284 graduates spanning across 18 faculties during its 38th convocation ceremony. The event, held on Saturday, witnessed the prestigious awarding of First Class honours to 180 exceptional students.

In addition to the undergraduate degrees, the university also bestowed higher degrees and postgraduate diplomas upon 5,432 graduands who have successfully completed their academic pursuits.

The ceremony reached new heights with the conferral of honorary doctorate degrees upon distinguished personalities, including the Deputy Senate President, Jibril Barau, and the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina.

Representing President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to advancing education and fostering sustainable development. He underscored ongoing efforts to revitalize vocational and Tsangaya centers, aiming to enhance education and cultivate skills among Nigerian youths.

Addressing the critical issue of power supply in universities, Tinubu disclosed collaborative initiatives between the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Education to ensure sustainable electricity provision, bolstering research endeavors through compressed natural gas.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seized the moment to congratulate the graduands, urging them to embrace their roles as future leaders and utilize their acquired knowledge for the greater good.

Celebrating a significant achievement, Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Sagir Abbas, proudly announced the institution’s ascent to the 5th position in Nigeria’s 2024 Universities Assessment ranking by Times Higher Education. Notably, Bayero University secured the second spot in terms of international outlook, trailing only Covenant University.

Professor Abbas reiterated the university’s unwavering commitment to excellence, pledging continuous enhancement of teaching facilities and research endeavors to bolster global visibility and academic prowess.
