NYSC Secondary School Claims Victory In CODE Quiz, Debate

This event, constituting the third phase of CODE’s ongoing Power of Voices and Fair for All project, was held on Tuesday in Calabar with support from Oxfam.

Among the participants were Government Girls Secondary School Big Qua and West African Peoples Institute (WAPI), both situated in Calabar, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mr. Hamzat Lawal, the Founder of CODE, explained during an interview with NAN that the project has facilitated the establishment of civic clubs in select secondary schools within the state. This initiative aims to nurture values of integrity, transparency, and accountability among the youth, recognizing the importance of shaping future leaders from a young age.

He emphasized the necessity of grooming the upcoming generation for effective leadership, underscoring the significance of instilling these principles early on.

Miss Blessing Anama, a student from NYSC Demonstration Secondary School, expressed her delight in her school’s victory and advocated for the competition’s regularity to foster accountability among students. She also urged for the expansion of civic clubs across secondary schools in the state.

Similarly, Udo Iboro of Government Girls Secondary School, Big Qua Town, Calabar, highlighted the impact of the competition, emphasizing the challenges and benefits of bringing students from various schools together to exchange ideas.

As the Power of Voices and Fair for All Project continues in six states, including Imo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, the Federal Capital Territory, and Cross River, the endeavor aims to extend its reach and impact to more schools and regions.
