According to the Commissioner of Special Duties, Auwal D. Sankara, the delay was a result of necessary procurement procedures to guarantee adherence to all due processes.

Previously, the Jigawa State Executive Council had sanctioned a budget of over N1 billion to facilitate the feeding of at least 300 individuals in each of the 609 Iftar feeding centers, alongside 10 tertiary education institutions in the state, throughout the Ramadan period.

The statement further elucidated, “We sincerely apologize for the slight delay in the commencement of the Ramadan Iftar Feeding Program. However, all arrangements have been finalized, and the feeding program is set to commence on Friday, the 12th of Ramadan, 1445AH, equivalent to 22nd March, 2024.”

The implementation strategy encompasses the selection of main vendors or contractors for each of the 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs), along with sub-vendors for the 609 Iftar centers.
