The amnesty, as provided for by the Constitution of Nigeria, encompasses the payment of fines and transportation allowances amounting to over N20 million.

Governor Mohammed specified that only inmates convicted of minor offenses and those unable to pay fines were eligible for the amnesty initiative. Notably, he excluded individuals serving long terms for capital offenses to deter the perpetration of such crimes.

Each pardoned inmate is set to receive the sum of N100,000 to facilitate their reintegration into society and enable them to embark on new business ventures for self-sustainability.

In his address, Governor Mohammed encouraged the pardoned individuals to embrace their newfound freedom responsibly and strive to become law-abiding citizens.
