Anambra: Six Feared Dead In Clash Between Rival Cult Groups In Awka

The incident unfolded in the Okpuno area, near Eke Awka Market, Obinagu, and across from Dike Park, all located within the state capital.

According to sources in the vicinity, the victims were en route to various social gatherings, including a picnic, when armed assailants descended on the area, unleashing gunfire.

“Those killed were heading to different events when they were targeted by the armed assailants who stormed the area around noon on Sunday,” a source revealed.

“The violence also spread to other neighborhoods, where additional individuals fell victim to the gunfire believed to be initiated by cultists.”

Reports indicate that among those struck by bullets was a staff member of the Anambra State Judiciary, identified only as Nwofor, who was reportedly en route to an event.

A circulating video on social media depicts the aftermath of the violence, showing bodies of individuals felled in the vicinity of Eke Awka.
