Breaking News: Former Gov Aide Is Dead

Confirming the sad news to Punch, Dickson Awolaja, the lawmaker representing Remo North State constituency, expressed deep sorrow over Odemuyiwa’s demise, describing it as a significant loss.

“It’s heartbreaking. I just received confirmation from a friend not long ago. Prof was said to be going to Ibadan when he had the accident. This is indeed a sad moment,” Awolaja lamented.

Odemuyiwa, a former lecturer at both Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, both state-owned institutions, had served diligently in various capacities within the educational sector.

Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun has voiced concern over the escalating prevalence of cultism in the state. Addressing the issue at the South-west Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security in Abeokuta, Abiodun expressed worry that even artisans and schoolchildren were now being entangled in cult activities.

The governor emphasized the urgent need for security forces to understand the underlying factors driving individuals, particularly young people, to join these groups, as well as the surge in cult-related violence and murders. He urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the alarming rise of cultism in Ogun State.
