After days of uncertainty and anxiety, reports emerging on Saturday morning brought relief as it was confirmed that the revered Islamic leader had been liberated from captivity.
The confirmation of the Imam’s release was made by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya. He relayed the news to journalists, stating, “This is to inform you that the Chief Imam of Iyara Central Mosque, Alhaji Qosim, who was earlier kidnapped, regained his freedom yesterday night,” as reported by Channels Television.

It marks a positive development in the efforts to combat insecurity in the region and offers hope for the safe return of others who may still be held captive.

Expressing her condolences to the bereaved families, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities in identifying and apprehending the criminals responsible for the violence. She underscored the need for concerted efforts by both the state and federal governments to prevent further escalation of the crisis and ensure the safety of all citizens.
