In a statement released on its official channels, the FCCPC highlighted the detrimental impact of unchecked price hikes on consumer welfare and economic stability. While acknowledging its lack of direct authority to control prices, the commission reaffirmed its commitment to upholding fair market practices.

According to the FCCPC, practices such as price gouging and conspiracies to manipulate supply violate existing laws and undermine consumer rights. To address these issues, the commission emphasized its readiness to enforce relevant sections of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, which prohibits obnoxious trade practices and the exploitation of consumers.
