Wike Reveals When Tinubu Will Commission Vice President’s Residence

Initially approved in 2010 by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at a cost of N7 billion, the project had been abandoned by the previous administration. However, under the current administration, the renovation resumed with a contract review amounting to N15 billion.
Expressing satisfaction with the level of work completed, Wike lauded the infrastructural development in FCT, aligning it with Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda.” He announced plans for several project inaugurations in celebration of Tinubu’s one year in office, aiming to restore Nigerians’ trust in the government.
Highlighting the importance of transparency and communication in governance, Wike emphasized the need to inform citizens about the administration’s achievements, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Wike’s visit aimed to assess the readiness of the residence for inauguration in May, emphasizing the incorporation of security features and addressing other concerns. He reassured the public of ongoing efforts to ensure the residence’s quality, security, and accessibility.
Addressing questions about the location of the VP residence, Wike clarified that the Federal Government had made the decision, considering security and accessibility. He mentioned consultation with the Office of the National Security Adviser to address security considerations adequately.
