The successful operation, led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, was executed based on credible intelligence and meticulous planning. The suspect, caught off guard at his hideout, was subsequently arrested.

Upon interrogation, Charis confessed to orchestrating numerous kidnapping and armed robbery activities within Imo State. Additionally, a snatched Ash Coloured Toyota Camry (2005 model) with registration number MUS 509 DS Lagos was recovered from his hideout.

Imo Police Command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye, highlighted that Charis would face arraignment in court upon the conclusion of a thorough investigation. This arrest is a significant milestone in the fight against crime in Imo State.

Recent Arrests in Imo State

In a related development, the Imo State Police, in collaboration with local vigilantes, recently apprehended another notorious armed robbery suspect, Izea John Chukwuebuka, aged 23. The suspect, hailing from Asa Community in Ohaji, was nabbed on his way to Alaba International Market in Owerri.

Chukwuebuka was found in possession of a locally made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition. He confessed to his involvement in various robbery incidents around Alaba International Market, Douglas Market, Tetlow, and other business areas in the state.

The police, in collaboration with vigilantes, are intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state, targeting both perpetrators and receivers of stolen goods. These proactive measures demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensuring the safety and security of residents in Imo State.
