Hailing from Asa Community in Ohaji, the suspect was found in possession of a locally made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition. Police spokesperson Henry Okoye provided details of the arrest in a statement released on Friday.

The operation, conducted on April 9, 2024, unveiled significant insights into the suspect’s criminal activities. According to Okoye, Chukwuebuka confessed to robbing unsuspecting individuals at Alaba International Market, Douglas Market, Tetlow, and other business areas within the state.

Chukwuebuka revealed his involvement in a broader network operating within the Ama Hausa Market, where stolen items are exchanged for monetary gain. In response, the police have intensified efforts to dismantle this syndicate, targeting both the receivers of stolen goods and the sellers and manufacturers of locally made firearms involved in the criminal network.

Efforts are underway to apprehend Chukwuebuka’s accomplices, particularly those involved in receiving stolen items, as well as the sellers and manufacturers of locally made guns within the syndicate.

Chukwuebuka is slated to be transferred to the state headquarters for further investigation and consolidation of the case. The successful apprehension of this robbery suspect underscores the commitment of the Imo State Police and local vigilantes to combatting crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
