According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, the troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of twelve of them and the scattering of the others. Subsequently, the army successfully destroyed the terrorist base and recovered various weapons and items, including an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, locally fabricated guns, motorcycles, and rustled cows.
