Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has lauded the decision of Dangote Petroleum Refinery to slash the price of diesel from ₦1200 to ₦1,000 per litre. This reduction comes in the wake of a previous 30% decrease in diesel price from ₦1600 to ₦1200 three weeks earlier. In a statement, the refinery highlighted its commitment to providing diesel at a substantially reduced cost, aiming to positively impact the economy and alleviate the country’s high inflation rate.

Additionally, Dangote refinery recently established a minimum volume requirement of one million litres for diesel purchases by oil marketers.

In response to this development, Ahmad, via his X handle, expressed his satisfaction, citing it as significant news alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

The move by Dangote Petroleum Refinery is anticipated to have widespread benefits, particularly in addressing economic challenges and contributing to inflation reduction efforts in Nigeria.
