In his post, Onakoya highlighted the significance of his endeavor, emphasizing the goal of raising funds for the education of underprivileged African children. He urged unity in demonstrating the power of love to make positive change.

Onakoya surpassed the previous record of 58 hours set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018. Not only did he break the record, but he also extended it by an additional two hours, achieving an impressive 60-hour marathon at Times Square in New York, USA.

The chess master’s motivation behind the marathon was to raise both funds and awareness for providing educational opportunities to disadvantaged children across Africa. By the end of his remarkable feat, Onakoya had managed to raise $99,368 towards his $1 million goal, aiming to support children in Nigerian slums.
