Police Arrest Two Suspects Over Kidnapping Of Female Pastor, Robbery In Edo

State Police Commissioner Funsho Adegboye disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, identifying the suspects as Brown John, 26, and Ayodele Aziz, 30.

Adegboye explained that the arrests were made by the command’s crack team along the Benin-Auchi road, acting on a tip-off received two days after the incident.

According to Adegboye, Pastor Imubhin Juliet reported that she and other church members were attacked by three armed men during a worship service. The assailants robbed them of their valuables and abducted the pastor, taking her away in her Toyota Highlander jeep.

The police intercepted the vehicle along the Auchi Road based on the tip-off, leading to the recovery of the vehicle and the apprehension of the suspects.

In their defense, one of the suspects, Brown John, claimed innocence, stating that he was only accompanying a friend to deliver a vehicle and was unaware of any criminal activity.

Similarly, Ayodele Aziz denied involvement in the crime, explaining that he was asked by a friend, who is now at large, to escort the vehicle in exchange for payment.

Both suspects insisted that they were unaware of the stolen vehicle and the criminal intentions of their associates.
