According to eyewitnesses, Friday was diligently carrying out repairs when an unexpected restoration of power to the high-tension pole he was working on resulted in the fatal incident. The community, known for its tight-knit spirit, was left in shock and mourning following the unfortunate event.

Friday was renowned for his commitment to his duties, often praised for his swift response to customer calls and his proactive approach to resolving electrical faults in his assigned area. Despite attempts to reach out to JEDC’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Elijah Adakole, no official statement has been issued by the company at the time of this report.

In a separate development, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Energy, Alhadji Kanja Sesay, tendered his resignation amidst ongoing disruptions in the country’s electricity supply. Although specific reasons for Sesay’s resignation were not officially disclosed, reports suggest it coincided with the government’s payment of outstanding debts to power providers, including Turkish Karpowership and Transco-CLSG group.

Following the payment, power was restored in Freetown after a two-month period of outages, during which Karpowership reduced its capacity due to payment issues. Sesay’s resignation raises questions about the challenges facing the energy sector in Sierra Leone and underscores the critical importance of reliable electricity supply for the nation’s development and stability.
