During a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, April 23, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede revealed that the former governor paid a total of $760,910 in advance from the coffers of the Kogi state government for the education of five of his children. Subsequently, the school pledged to reimburse the fees to the EFCC.
Responding to a letter from the Lagos zonal commander of the EFCC, AISA confirmed that a total of $845,852 had been paid in tuition from September 7, 2021, to the present. However, the school stated that after deducting the cost of educational services already rendered, the refundable amount stood at $760,910.
The school emphasized its readiness to process the refund upon receipt of an official written request from the EFCC containing authentic banking details for the transfer. AISA assured that no additional fees would be expected for tuition, as the students’ fees had been settled until their graduation from the institution.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the reimbursement, stating that the money had been deposited into the public account as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering activities by the Bello family.
