Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has commissioned the 6.475-kilometre Amanyam-Mbiaso Road in Amanyam, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, as part of activities marking the state’s 39th anniversary.
According to Ireporter Online, the road was commissioned on Thursday and is expected to improve connectivity and ease movement for residents and businesses across several communities in the area.
Speaking during the commissioning, Eno said his administration remained focused on projects capable of improving the living conditions of residents rather than engaging in unnecessary political disagreements.
The governor said development initiatives under his administration were designed to deliver tangible benefits to people across the state.
He also announced plans for additional projects in the area, including the Ikot Ekpene International Market, Compassionate Homes, primary healthcare centres and more road infrastructure.
Eno commended the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Aniefiok Nkom, for implementing projects aimed at addressing the needs of residents. He also praised other local government chairmen across the state for similar development efforts, describing them as evidence of the benefits of local government autonomy.
The Commissioner for Works, Eno Ibanga, said the newly commissioned road is a single-carriageway measuring 6.475 kilometres in length and eight metres in width.
According to him, the project also includes 12.95 kilometres of side drains and provides an important transportation corridor linking Amanyam with communities including Ifuho, Ibong, Ikot Udoe and Mbiaso.
Ibanga added that the project was subjected to proper supervision to ensure compliance with required standards and promote its durability.
The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Nkom, expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for the projects being executed in the area, particularly the international market, hospital project and road infrastructure.
Nkom said the local government had benefited significantly from the governor’s administration and disclosed that four additional projects were scheduled for commissioning in Ikot Ekpene.
