Tinubu Will Eat Obi Like Biscuits — Okonkwo Reveals Only Way To Defeat President

Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson for the presidential campaign of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said opposition parties must unite under a strong coalition if they hope to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Okonkwo made the remarks during an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media, where he assessed the chances of opposition candidates ahead of the election.

According to him, the opposition risks losing another presidential election if its major political figures enter the contest separately instead of consolidating their support behind a common candidate.

He argued that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, would struggle to defeat Tinubu if he contests without the backing of a broader opposition alliance.

Okonkwo also questioned Obi’s ability to secure sufficient support in northern Nigeria, particularly in Kano State, where Obi contested in the 2023 presidential election.

He maintained that the opposition needed to pool its political structures and voter bases to stand a realistic chance against the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Okonkwo was particularly dismissive of the possibility of Obi defeating Tinubu on his own, even with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

He said Tinubu would have a significant advantage over Obi if the opposition remains divided, using the expression that the President would “eat him like biscuits” if Obi contested alone.

The Atiku campaign spokesperson further claimed that Obi would face difficulties winning substantial support in Kano, arguing that the former Anambra State governor did not win the state during the 2023 presidential election.

Okonkwo also downplayed Kwankwaso’s political influence, claiming that the former Kano governor had lost some of his electoral strength, including in his home state.

His comments come amid renewed efforts by opposition politicians and groups to build a coalition capable of challenging Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

Previous attempts by opposition figures to establish a united front faced disagreements over leadership, presidential ambitions and the choice of a common candidate.

The renewed coalition discussions have therefore placed opposition unity at the centre of the political conversation ahead of the 2027 elections.

While Okonkwo believes a coalition is the opposition’s strongest route to victory, his assessment of Obi, Kwankwaso and the electoral landscape remains a political argument rather than a prediction that can be independently established ahead of the election.
