This accusation was made public on Wednesday through the station’s official X handle, following the incident that raised concerns about the EFCC’s actions.

According to reports, EFCC operatives stormed the station during a live broadcast, arresting Ekoh and allegedly confiscating some broadcasting equipment. Urban Radio management expressed alarm over the incident.

However, the EFCC has denied these claims. In a statement on Tuesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale clarified that Ms. Ekoh was not arrested during a live broadcast and that no equipment was seized. He explained that the arrest was part of an investigation by the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC into a N700 million Ponzi scheme, involving around 50 victims. Oyewale further alleged that Urban Radio staff obstructed EFCC operatives during the arrest and called on the Nigerian Union of Journalists to look into the actions of the station’s officials.
