Plateau State Begins Production Of Pharmaceuticals
The Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency has officially started manufacturing pharmaceutical products. Kim Bot, the agency’s Executive Secretary, revealed the initiative during an interview on Thursday in Jos.
According to Bot, the agency has successfully produced five pharmaceutical items, including cough syrup, antacid (Mist. Magnesium Trisilicate), methylated spirit, antiseptic, and sanitizers. He noted that the efficacy of these products had been tested with excellent results.
Bot added that the agency is awaiting registration and certification from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) before commencing large-scale production. Most of the materials used in manufacturing the products were sourced locally, with only one imported.
The agency’s efforts aim to improve accessibility and affordability of essential drugs, highlighting the Plateau State government’s commitment to quality healthcare. The state-of-the-art warehouse, equipped with advanced temperature control and inventory systems, ensures the safety and timely delivery of life-saving medications.
Bot commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for prioritizing healthcare, ensuring Plateau residents receive top-notch services.
