FUTA Teaching Hospital Commends Tinubu’s Support For Healthcare Sector Reform

According to Ireporter Online, the Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital (FUTATH) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his administration’s sustained support for the healthcare sector, noting that federal interventions have played a key role in strengthening tertiary health institutions across Nigeria.

The Chief Medical Director of FUTATH, Prof. Olusegun Ojo, made the commendation during the inauguration of substantive heads of departments, committees, and units aimed at reinforcing the hospital’s administrative framework and improving service delivery. He said the appointments were part of ongoing reforms to build a more efficient and stable management system within the institution.

Prof. Ojo stated that President Tinubu’s policy direction and healthcare-related interventions have continued to enhance access to quality medical services nationwide, adding that such efforts have created a more enabling environment for teaching hospitals to function effectively and deliver improved care to the public.

He explained that the newly inaugurated leadership structure became necessary following the expiration of interim appointments on June 30, which were originally put in place to oversee the hospital’s early operations. According to him, the transition to substantive heads was required to prevent any administrative vacuum and ensure continuity in service delivery.

The CMD urged the newly appointed officials to see their roles as a call to service rather than positions of authority, stressing the importance of accountability, professionalism, and commitment to improving healthcare outcomes.

Reaffirming the hospital’s dedication to transparency and quality service, Prof. Ojo encouraged members of the public to make use of the SERVICOM unit to lodge complaints and provide feedback, noting that the platform remains essential for identifying service gaps and enhancing patient satisfaction.

He further dismissed reports suggesting the exclusion of some workers inherited from the Ondo State Government, explaining that staffing levels were guided by the Federal Civil Service-approved establishment for the hospital’s take-off phase. He added that affected personnel had their details captured, with plans underway for a mop-up exercise to accommodate those not previously registered.
