Reacting to the backlash the video received online, Adeyanju criticized those discouraging others from paying tithes. In a statement, he emphasized that paying tithes is a personal decision and not a mandatory obligation in church. He also noted that those who tithe often testify to its benefits.

“Nobody is forced to pay tithes or offerings in church,” Adeyanju said. “You can attend church without paying a dime, and no one will coerce you. Yet, many of those criticizing tithing don’t even practice it themselves. What business do they have policing how others spend their money?”

Adeyanju highlighted the role of tithes in supporting the spread of the gospel and urged respect for differing beliefs. The activist called for tolerance and respect for religious freedoms, saying, “Criticizing someone’s faith while ignoring your own flaws—whether it’s alcoholism or promiscuity—is hypocritical. Let’s respect each other’s right to practice their beliefs without interference.”
