Reports indicate that the attacks began on Sunday, November 24, 2024, and continued into the early hours of Monday. Local sources revealed that 10 bodies were recovered in Kastina-Ala, while 20 others were found in Logo.

Chief Joseph Anawah, a community leader in Logo, disclosed that armed assailants, numbering over 300 and suspected to be foreign militia, invaded the Azege settlement and neighboring areas in Tombo Council Ward on Sunday morning.

He stated that the attackers, equipped with sophisticated weapons, overwhelmed the local security forces. Their retreat was only forced after a military aircraft intervened. Over 20 bodies have been retrieved so far, and search efforts for missing persons are ongoing.

In Kastina-Ala, Council Chairman Justine Shaku confirmed that heavily armed attackers struck Adabo village and Tse Gwebe settlement in the early hours of Monday, destroying properties and looting homes.

Similarly, Clement Kav, the Chairman of Logo LGA, reported that 17 people were killed and 37 injured in the Tombo area. He added that the attackers claimed ownership of the land. Security forces have since been deployed to restore calm.

Police Public Relations Officer Catherine Anene also confirmed the incident, but reported recovering five bodies as investigations continue.

Benue State continues to face persistent security challenges, with repeated attacks attributed to armed herder groups.
