The nuns were abducted on January 7, 2025, along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area while returning from a vocational association meeting in Ogboji.

Their release was confirmed in a statement by Sister Maria Ikeotuonye, Secretary General of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, expressing gratitude for the prayers and support during the challenging period.

Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged the nuns’ release and mentioned that efforts are ongoing to gather more details about the incident.
