Chelle, a former Malian international with five caps, brings a wealth of experience from his playing career in France, where he featured for clubs such as FC Martigues, Valenciennes, Lens, Istres, and Chamois Niortais. Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, he remarked, “Coaching the Super Eagles of Nigeria is an amazing job; I do not take this appointment for granted. I am elated and will do my utmost best.”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed confidence in Chelle’s abilities, with NFF President Ibrahim Gusau highlighting the coach’s positive attitude and commitment. Gusau stated, “I see in the new head coach the right spirit and the right attitude, and I have faith that he will take the Super Eagles to the next level.”

Chelle’s immediate focus will be on revitalizing the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying campaign, with crucial matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe scheduled for March. The team currently sits with three points from four matches in Group C, trailing Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin, who each have seven points.
