including alleged disrespect towards Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his conduct during key legislative sessions, may have contributed to his ousting.

Ojo stated, “Obasa’s decision to make snide remarks about the governor during budget presentations, particularly when he asserted his qualifications and experience, may have been seen as a challenge to the governor’s authority. As a non-immunized speaker, his fate ultimately rests in the hands of his fellow legislators.”

He added, “When political figures display stubbornness and resist reconciliation, it often backfires. Obasa’s case may be a reflection of that reality.”

Obasa was replaced by his deputy, Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1 and has previously served as the house’s chief whip. Mojeed Fatai has been named Deputy Speaker.
