Asefon disclosed that rice meant for December’s distribution had arrived late, prompting a more organized and transparent process. Two SUG Presidents from each geopolitical zone were selected to collect and monitor the distribution, ensuring fairness.

“This marks a historic moment. For the first time, a sitting President is directly engaging with student leaders during the festive season,” Asefon said. He encouraged students to remain engaged with the administration, emphasizing their role in shaping national policies.

Fahad Abdullahi, SUG President of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, praised the initiative, highlighting other student-focused measures like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as evidence of the administration’s commitment to youth welfare.

“This gesture underscores the government’s prioritization of student welfare, and we are immensely grateful,” Abdullahi stated.

This act of goodwill continues President Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen ties with Nigeria’s youth and create an inclusive platform for their voices in governance.
