George Akume’s Wife Warns Him To Stay Christian Or Risk Losing Success Amid Reports Of New Marriage

According to Ireporter Online, Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged her husband to remain committed to Christianity, warning that abandoning the faith could hinder his success.

The appeal was made during the wedding reception of the SGF’s son on Sunday in Makurdi, Benue State. Regina Akume, who represents Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, emphasized that her husband’s achievements were deeply rooted in his Christian faith.

In a video shared widely on social media and circulated by Idoma Television on Monday, she prayed for the SGF’s long life, good health, and clarity in decision-making. She further advised him to return to Christianity, saying it had been instrumental in his rise to prominence.

She remarked, “He should remember that it is Christianity that brought him this far. To drop Christianity now and pursue anything else, he will not be successful. My advice is that he comes back to Christianity and follows the teachings of Christ.”

Her comments come amid reports that Senator Akume recently married Zaynab Ngohemba-George, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The marriage was publicly acknowledged on December 26, 2025, through a Facebook post welcoming Zaynab into the Akume family.
