2027: Deputy Speaker Kalu Urges Governor Otti To Take A Stand

According to Ireporter Online, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and stop remaining indecisive in his support for President Bola Tinubu.

Kalu made the remarks on Monday while speaking to APC members and supporters during a town hall meeting and food distribution event at his country home in Bende, Abia State. He emphasized that Governor Otti would enjoy the full backing of the Abia APC if he officially became a party member, noting that the President would not support anyone outside the party.

He stated, “I want to use this opportunity again to invite Governor Alex Otti to join our party. If he comes to our party, we will support him, but if he is in another party and claims to support the President, it will not work.”

The Deputy Speaker, who has not yet declared any intention to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election, said he is still consulting with the APC’s national leadership and awaiting guidance before making a decision.

Kalu also accused hired social media operatives in Abia State of spreading false narratives about him, claiming that his empowerment programs and community engagements are being misrepresented as early moves for the 2027 governorship race.
